PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a coil element, and the coil element that are capable of increasing the aspect ratio of a plating pattern included in a coil portion while achieving fine patterning of the plating pattern.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a coil element comprises: forming a first auxiliary layer and a second auxiliary layer of which coil portions formed of a plating pattern are disposed on a substrate; aligning the first auxiliary layer and the second auxiliary layer such that an upper surface of the coil portion of the first auxiliary layer and an upper surface of the coil portion of the second auxiliary layer are adjacent to each other while facing each other; and forming a conductive coupling portion between the upper surface of the coil portion of the first auxiliary layer and the upper surface of the coil portion of the second auxiliary layer.
