PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a bronzing phenomenon and a color interference phenomenon and improve glossiness and color development properties by using image quality improving liquid in different recording modes in a more appropriate manner.SOLUTION: In a color mode, image quality improving liquid is set to the same rate of 20% for all input signal values. In a monochrome mode, the image quality improving liquid is set to a rate of 30% in a highlight region, and the ink rate gradually decreases starting from intermediate tones towards a high-density region. Thus, an optimal recording method and use rate for the image quality improving liquid can be adjusted in accordance with image quality characteristics of the color mode and the monochrome mode. As a result, it is possible to reduce coloring in specular light while maintaining at least a certain level of image clarity in both modes, and thus favorably record both color images and monochrome images. |
