METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR EVALUATING MOLECULES IN BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES USING MICROARRAY DERIVED IMAGES

The invention relates to a method for evaluating molecules in biological samples using microarray derived images, in particular to estimate differences in DNA sequences between a sample to be tested and a reference sample, wherein a support chip or slide (5) including a microarray (4) of objects or spots (3) is subjected to an acquisition step for obtaining a digital file of image data (IMG) derived from the microarray (4), to be processed by computer means (1). At least the following steps are envisaged: - identification of the spots (3) of the microarray (4) in the digital file of image data (IMG); - identification of the edges (15) or limits of each spot (3) by means of a chromatic contrast algorithm; - assigning a morphological parameter to each evaluated spot (3); - removal from the image data (IMG) file of all the spots (3) having a morphology parameter value lower than a predetermined value; - evaluation of statistical information available for each spot (3); - assigning to each spot (3) a quality parameter value derived from said statistical information; - excluding from further processing all the spots (3) having an assigned quality parameter value lower than a predetermined value.
