PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass tube composed of porous silica glass, which has good fluid permeability and is hardly damaged, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: In a glass tube 11, a plurality of porous silica glass layers are laminated in the radial direction, the average porosity of the whole glass tube 11 is 40-70%, and the single layer porosity, that is the average porosity of the porous silica glass layer, is 30 to 85% for any layer.
