PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool capable of achieving very excellent toughness in the high-speed work or work of a hard-to-cut material such as stainless steel, inconel, titanium, in the surface-coated cutting tool having an AlN layer.SOLUTION: A surface-coated cutting tool includes a base material and a coating formed on the base material. The coating includes an AlN layer, the AlN layer has a structure where metal particles are dispersed, the metal particle includes at least one metal selected from a group consisting of IVa group elements, Va group elements, VIa group elements, Al, Si, and Y in the periodic table, and the particle size of the metal particle is 10 nm-250 nm. |
