MOTORIZED WINDOW TREATMENT HAVING A BELT DRIVE

A battery-powered motorized window treatment (110) for controlling the position of a covering material (112) includes a motor drive unit (120) having a belt drive. The motor drive includes a motor (150) for rotating a drive shaft (132) to thus raise and lower the covering material and is powered by one or more batteries (138). The belt drive includes a belt (190) that surrounds a first pulley (191) coupled to the motor and a second pulley (192), which operates to rotate the drive shaft. The belt drive isolates noise generated by the motor from the gears and parts of the motor drive unit and the motorized window treatment. The belt drive includes rollers (199A, 199B) for holding the belt on the pulleys, and the belt is sized to reduce the load on the motor, such that the motor draws less current from the batteries. As a result, the batteries have a much longer lifetime than those of a typical prior art battery-powered motorized window treatment.
