PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve device that suppresses damage caused by wear.SOLUTION: A variable valve device (10) includes an inner camshaft (20) that is connected to a drive shaft of an internal combustion engine to rotate; and an outer camshaft (30) that has a plurality of cams (31, 32) having different cam profiles, is provided on the outer periphery of the inner camshaft (20) in an axially movable manner, and axially moves to switch over a cam for driving an engine valve (50). The variable valve device hydraulically maintains an axial position of the outer camshaft (30). This configuration causes the position of the outer camshaft (30) to be maintained without including a locking device to enable suppression of damage caused by wear of the device. In addition, the number of components constituting the locking device can be reduced, and thus the manufacturing cost can be reduced. |
