PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedal-driven wheelchair which is simply structured and can turn in a small radius.SOLUTION: A pedal-driven wheelchair has running wheels for running on right and left sides of a seat and pedals to be driven by feet in front. A drive shaft which is rotated by the pedals is bridged laterally under the seat. Drive wheels are pivotally attached with right and left ends of the drive shaft. The running wheels arranged on the right and left sides of a car body are freely turnable idler wheels. The wheelchair runs with the drive wheels in contact with the right and left running wheels. The wheelchair is pivot turned by stopping one of the running wheels and rotating the other, by separating one drive wheel from the idler wheel for running opposed to the drive wheel while keeping the other drive wheel in contact with the other running wheels. |
