PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM 10 capable of suppressing a temporary increase of load to a commercial power source 4 without sacrificing convenience for users, and to provide a power supply controlling method for the ATM 10.SOLUTION: An ATM 10 and a power supply controlling method for the ATM 10 are described, where the ATM 10 includes: an operating and display unit 16; a bank note deposit/withdrawal mechanism unit 14; a power supply unit 23 which constantly outputs power fed from a commercial power source 4; a battery 233 which accumulates power fed from the commercial power source 4; a first changeover switch 234 which turns on and off the supply of power from the commercial power source 4 to the battery 233; a second changeover switch 235 which turns on and off discharging of power by the battery 233; and a control unit 24 which controls the first changeover switch 234 and the second changeover switch 235. The control unit 24 is configured to turn the first changeover swatch 234 off and turn the second changeover switch 235 on when depression of a deposit button by a user is detected.
