<p>Provided are: a heterocyclic compound which provides an oxidation catalyst having high selectivity; a metal complex catalyst which uses the heterocyclic compound; a use of the metal complex catalyst; and a method for producing an alcohol. A heterocyclic compound of the present invention is characterized by being represented by general formula (1).
