PURPOSE: A float type wind power generator and a buoyancy compensation method therefor are provided to separate one of areas taking charge of load, thereby preventing the float type wind power generator from sinking. CONSTITUTION: A float type wind power generator includes a buoyancy unit (121), a load unit (123, a sensing unit (131), and a control unit (132). The buoyancy unit is partitioned by a plurality of buoyancy areas. The load unit is partitioned by a plurality of load areas to fix the float type wind power generator. The sensing unit senses whether the buoyancy areas are damaged or not. As a result of sensing from the sensing unit, if at least one damaged buoyancy areas of the buoyancy areas is generated, the control unit separates at least one of the load areas.
