PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing density variation over the entire area of an output image to a requested level.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an optical scanner 2010 that includes a photoreceptor drum and a light source, and scans the surface of the photoreceptor drum in a main scanning direction by light from the light source to form a latent image on the surface of the photoreceptor drum; a developing device that develops the latent image; a home position sensor that detects a rotation period of the photoreceptor drum; a density detection device 2245 that detects density of an image developed by the developing device at three positions in the main scanning direction; and a processing device that determines an initial phase of a periodic density variation with the rotation period at the three positions in the main scanning direction of the image as a period thereof on the basis of an output signal of the density detection device 2245, and corrects a drive signal of the light source so that the periodic density variation at respective positions in the main scanning direction of the image can be suppressed on the basis of the initial phase and the rotation period. |
