PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a notification device and a notification method by which it can be highly accurately notified that a puncture needle possibly comes off.SOLUTION: A notification device 10 includes: an optical separation detection sensor 20 which is attached to a patient together with an intravenous tube TB1 extending from a puncture needle 12 inserted into the patient and which detects a separation from the patient; and a controller 30 performing notification on the basis of a result of detection of the separation detection sensor 20. The separation detection sensor 20 is electrically insulated.
