The seat belt device has a buckle (6) with a buckle housing, in which an insertion tongue (5) of the seat belt is inserted during the mounting of the seat belt. The buckle housing is encased with a damping unit on two sides of the housing for damping of rattling sound. The damping unit has two cover layers, which are connected at their opposite outer edges through a connecting strip, particularly a film hinge. The cover layers and the intermediate film hinge or the connecting strip are integrally connected to each other.
