The present invention relates to the use of a combination (i) of at least one carotenoid, (ii) of at least one phytooestrogen, and (iii) of vitamin C, as an active agent for moisturizing the skin, for the preparation of a cosmetic composition that is suitable for orally administering a daily doseof from 1 to 25 mg of the said carotenoid, from 10 to 300mg of a phytooestrogen and from 10 to 1000 mg of vitamin C.
