An elevator rail joint plate device (12) comprises a joint plate (13) connected to two vertically adjacent rail members (11), and a plurality of fasteners (14) to fasten the joint plate (13) to the rail members (11). The joint plate (13) is provided with, in a cross section parallel to the ground, a guide portion (13b) that is inclined in relation to a rail blade portion (11a) of the rail member (11). By way of tightening the fasteners (14), the rail members are guided by the guide portion (13b) and the horizontal position of the upper and lower rail members (11) can be aligned.
