The method comprises the following steps: obtaining an ID of a user and an ID of a friend of the user in a first network relationship list; obtaining a second piece of association information between the user and the friend of the user from several second network relationship lists according to the ID of the user and the ID of the friend of the user; and determining a first piece of association information between the user and the friend of the user in the first network relationship list according to the second piece of association information, and adding the first piece of association information into the first network relationship list. The method and the device for adding friend information provided by the present invention can accurately identify the association information between the user and the friend according to the existing network relationship list and automatically add supplemental information of the friend for the user.
