A sensor signal evaluation device (7) for evaluating a sensor signal (a) generated by a single-channel radar sensor (1) and received by the sensor signal evaluation device (7) is proposed, said evaluation device having a device for generating a tripping signal (Umax) if the received sensor signal (a) has signal components in a predetermined frequency range (f1, f2) which is characteristic of at least one object having a direction of movement relative to the radar sensor (1) in the radar field (3) of the latter, which direction of movement is of interest to the evaluation of the sensor signal (a); and an analysis device for analysing the temporal amplitude profile of the sensor signal (a), said analysis device being designed to receive the tripping signal (Umax) and to start the analysis under the condition that the tripping signal (Umax) has been generated. |
