PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent disturbance of a toner image due to sudden evaporation of moisture contained in a recording medium at the time of entrance of the recording medium into a fixing nip part.SOLUTION: A fixing device holds and conveys a recording medium to fix an image formed on the recording medium at a nip part formed by a flexible heater 9 that is supported by a support member and a pressure member that comes in to pressure contact with the flexible heater 9. The heater 9 comprises a plurality of heat generating parts 3a and 3b arranged in parallel in a conveyance direction of the recording medium with a heat insulating member 5 interposed therebetween. The heat generating part 3a is a first heat generating part 3a that generates heat at a first temperature that is equal to or higher than a melting point of developer and lower than a boiling point of water, and the heat generating part 3b is a second heat generating part 3b that is provided on the downstream side in the conveyance direction of the first heat generating part 3a, and generates heat at a second temperature that is equal to or higher than the boiling point of water and higher than the first temperature. |
