PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably detect defective recording elements such as an abnormal nozzle.SOLUTION: An image recording apparatus includes: an abnormal nozzle detection part 53 that detects an abnormal nozzle based on a reading result of a test chart for detecting an abnormal nozzle 56; and a defective discharge correction LUT generation part 52 that generates defective discharge correction LUT for correcting stripe unevenness 46 based on the reading result of a test chart for correcting stripe unevenness 55. The test chart for detecting the abnormal nozzle 56 is output, the abnormal nozzle is detected by the abnormal nozzle detection part 68, and abnormal nozzle information regarding the abnormal nozzle is registered in an abnormal nozzle information table 47 (abnormal nozzle information registration process) right before and during the generation of the defective discharge correction LUT 46. Right before a print JOB, the abnormal nozzle information registration process is performed again. The abnormal nozzle detected at least one of right before the generation of the defective discharge correction LUT 46, during the generation of the defective discharge correction LUT 46 and right before the print JOB is made not to be discharged. |
