The pyrotechnic igniter (100) has a pole structure (104) that is provided with two contact pins (102) that are extended in parallel to each other and are spaced apart from each other. An outwardly closing cap (122) is connected with pole structure and is made of two different plastic components. An end wall of the cap is made of softer plastic material than a circumferential wall of the cap. The Shore hardness of end wall of cap is in the range of D30 to D80. The Shore hardness of circumferential wall of cap is in the range of D80 to D95. An independent claim is included for method for manufacturing igniter.
