PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that can be made thin even when an integration rate of components is raised to increase the thickness of the device as a laser beam directing from a light source to a condensing section passes through the components.SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes: a laser unit 101 that emits a laser beam; an objective lens 13 that condenses the laser beam onto an optical disk; a plurality of optical components that are positioned on an optical path from the laser unit 101 to the objective lens 13 and guide the laser beam; a carriage 4 that holds the laser unit 101, the objective lens 13 and the optical components; a wiring member 35 that is connected to the laser unit 101 to supply electric power; and a protective cover 33 that partially covers the wiring member 35 and has an opening 331 facing an optical disk 1. All of the laser unit 101, the objective lens 13 and the plurality of optical components are positioned within a region where the opening 331 of the protective cover 33 is projected in a perpendicular direction with respect to the disk surface of the optical disk. |
