PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noble metal supported electrode catalyst having high mass activity, and a simple and economical method for producing the noble metal supported electrode catalyst.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an electrode catalyst including: catalyst particles comprising an alloy of noble metal and transition metal; and a carrier supporting the catalyst particles. The number of the catalyst particles having a particle size of 3.5 nm or less and a content ratio of the transition metal of 3 at.% or more is 50% or more relative to the number of the all catalyst particles.
