[Class 106(i)] Apparatus for printing at the end of predetermined intervals, the consumption values for these intervals, in a column on a strip, comprises means for printing supplementary data of various kinds in a single parallel column in an order and at intervals determined by the design of the mechanism: A gear-wheel 2 fixed on a shaft 1 drives a pin-wheel 3 which co-operates with a lever 5 pivoted on a shaft 10 and normally held against a stop 7 by a spring 6. Hammers 8 on arms 9 also pivoted on the shaft 10 are normally held against a part 11 of the lever 5 by weak springs 12. At the end of each consumption interval in a known manner the shaft 1 is set in rotation and causes the hammers 8 to press a strip against type rollers 13 controlled by a consumption meter. A second gear-wheel 15 fixed on the shaft 1 drives, through gear chains 16, pinwheels 17 and 18. The former pin-wheel 17 co-operates with a lever 19 freely mounted on the shaft 10 by means of a sleeve 22 to which is fixed a lever 23, the lever 19 being normally held against the tension of a spring 20 by a ratchet lever 36 which in turn co-operates with the latter pin-wheel 18. A hammer 25 on an arm 24 pivoted on the sleeve 22 is normally held against a stop 27 on the lever 23 by a weak spring 26. At intervals determined by the gear chains 16 by a similar printing process the hammer 25 presses the strip against one of the supplementary type 29 carried on a drum segment 28, the type for each piece of data lying in the printing plane when its corresponding land on a cam 35 on the shaft of the pinwheel 18 co-operates with a roller 34 on a lever 33 carrying a toothed segment 31 engaging a toothed wheel 30 connected to the drum segment 28. Modifications are suggested wherein the sequence in which the supplementary data are selected is changed by modifying the linkage between the shaft 1 and the drum segment 28 or wherein the selection is made by means independent of the shaft 1, the printing means being in operative connection therewith only at the moment of printing. To hold more data, the member 28 may be a complete drum. |
