[Class 44.] In fastenings for slidable closing panels the panel has limited transverse vertical movement against spring pressure with respect to its guides, the movement causing engagement or disengagement of the fastening means. The front cross member g, Figs. 1, 3 and 4, of the panel for closing a vehicle roof opening is resiliently connected by strips to the body of the panel and the rear end is guided in the usual guides d while the front part is guided by means of strips e in water-trap guides f, the top of the guides f being provided with recesses &c. m adapted to be engaged by catches l on the front member g. Fig. 7 shows another form in which upstanding lugs p are engaged in notches in the rail r under the pressure of springs n which may have rollers o. Fig. 11 shows an arrangement adapted to be fitted to an existing opening top, the rail x being fitted to the sides of the roof opening and the member w carried by the panel being adapted to engage recesses in the rail x.</p> |
