Method for forming an optical element elastically deformed by a bonded ring

The method involves fastening an optical element blank (101) to a ring (102). Forces and moments are applied to the ring to deform the ring in a controlled manner. A deformed optical surface (100) is shaped by abrasion process to restore spherical or planar shape of the optical surface. The blank is extracted from the ring to release stress that deforms the optical surface to allow the surface to acquire desired aspherical shape. The fastening of the blank to the ring is performed by bonding main surfaces of the blank on a surface of the ring by an adhesive layer (107).
