An electromagnetic actuator comprises a stroke-limiting mechanism having a non-magnetic plastic stopper (40) mounted terminally in a housing (10) and manufactured by shaping, stamping, sintering and/or injection molding. The stopper cooperates with a plunger unit (16) which can be actuated outside the housing and mechanically moves an armature out of a stop position defined by the stroke-limiting mechanism.
