<p>Provided is a sliding member in which the relationship between static frictional force and kinetic frictional force can be controlled. This sliding member (1) constitutes a cylindrical bearing, and the inner peripheral surface thereof serves as a sliding layer (2) with respect to a shaft. The sliding member (1) is provided with a surface with projections and recesses (6) on the surface of the sliding layer (2). In this example, the surface with projections and recesses (6) is provided with linear projections (6a) of which the apexes are arranged in a grid pattern, and thus, the kinetic frictional force is increased by inhibiting the formation of an oil film, and the rate of change of the kinetic frictional force to the static frictional force is reduced. The sliding layer is made by: forming a porous layer with an alloy material on one surface of a metal base material; impregnating the porous layer with a resin material; and firing the resin material.</p> |
