418,677. Endless - belt conveyers. MITCHELL, F. G., Albyns, near Romford, Essex. April 27, 1933, Nos. 12274 and 13494. [Class 78 (i).] In apparatus for lowering granular materials of the kind comprising a pair of endless belts, the adjacent faces of which are arranged to travel in the same direction and to grip the material between them, the downwardly carrying surfaces of the belts 1, 2, Fig. 1, follow a normally vertical path and the gripping of the material is effected partly by longitudinally tensioning the belts by springs 12, weights, or the like, and partly by the action of a series of transversely extending, individually flexible guides 11 or equivalent means. In one construction each guide 11 comprises rollers 15, 15a, 15b, Fig. 2, the spindles of which are connected together and to the framework 9 by springs 17, 18, respectively. Adjusting screws 20 are provided for varying the tension of the springs. In another construction each guide comprises a single spring extending the width of the belt. In a further construction material is delivered by a shoot 21, Fig. 4, on to the horizontal upper run 1<b> of a conveyer 1 which extends downwards in contact with a series of non-flexible movable guide rollers 25 mounted on a series of pivoted members 35 forming a lazytongs arrangement. This belt passes also around a series of pulleys on a framework 22, one of which 29 is movable horizontally to maintain taut the belt as the lazytongs is expanded or contracted. The belt 1 co-operates with a belt 2 which is mounted on a non-telescopic framework 37 and acted on by flexible guides 11. |
