The sun protection unit has a longitudinal spar (24) that has a leading cord (14) beneath the lowest lamella (18) that is connected to a strap (26) that is hung on an under-rail (12). The spar may be built with cross-mounts on which the lamella may lie. The spar may be a strap cord (22) with holding straps (20) on which the lamellae may be fixed. The strap may be guided over the under-rail via link aids (28). The link aids may have rounded slide tracks (30). The middle point of the link aid may lie at the centre of gravity of the under- rail, whilst the under-rail may have additional weights.
