BEARER RELEASE BEFORE HANDOVER

A method includes determining that handover of a communication device and from a first access node to a second access node is required. The method also includes determining whether release of a bearer has been completed within a period of time. Handover of the communication device is allowed after determining that the release of the bearer has been completed.
