<p>A fermentation plant comprising a drum, measuring up to 40 - 50 m long by 3 - 5 m in diameter, rotated about its lengthwise axis by a drive system with a pinion turning about a main axis parallel to that of the drum and meshing with crown gear fixed to the drum, is new. A fermentation plant comprising of a drum (2), measuring up to 40 - 50 m long by 3 - 5 m in diameter, rotated about its lengthwise axis by a drive system with a pinion (58) turning about a main axis (59) parallel to that of the drum and meshing with crown gear (45) fixed to the drum. The pinion is mounted on a support by a pivoted bar (64) with first and second floating axes (65, 66) that allow it to move freely by up to 10 degrees on either side of its rest position. The pinion is driven by a motor, reduction gear and a coupling that allows it to pivot about the two floating axes, which are separate from but parallel to the drum's main axis.</p> |
