An image forming device includes a control unit for detecting the misregistration quantity and density of a toner image by detecting a first and a second detection pattern. The first detection pattern includes a black part and a color part. The control unit is for setting the amount of light-emission, threshold value, or sensitivity of a detection unit in a way that the amount of received light, which is diffused and reflected by the black part, is less than the threshold value and the amount of received light, which is diffused and reflected by the color part, is greater than the threshold value; and to set the amount of light-emission or sensitivity in a way that the amount received light, which is diffused and reflected by the color part, is less than the upper limit of the detection unit.
