PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device of a sliding door being mountable on an ordinary sash window or the like without impairing its quality of design and capable of locking or unlocking the sliding door securely by a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: When locking a crescent lock 3, a connection mechanism 7 slides in the upward direction through an engaging projecting part 12 by turn of a crescent 10, an end part on one side of a long hole 14a is locked in an engaging pin 17 to move an operation plate 16 and move a sub-lock piece 15 to a locking position. When unlocking the crescent lock 3, the connection mechanism 7 slides in the downward direction through the engaging projecting part 12 by turn of the crescent 10, prevents the operation plate 16 from moving due to a play interval between the long hole 14a and the engaging pin 17, prevents a sub-lock 6 from being unlocked due to unlocking operation of the crescent lock 3, and moves an unlocking operation piece 6c in a sub-lock unlocking operation part 6A to move the sub-lock piece 15 to an unlocking position and unlock the sub-lock 6.
