A method and an apparatus for providing publication intention of an electronic text book are provided. The publication intention shows the intention of a writer of the electronic text book to include content in the electronic text book. The apparatus for providing publication intention of an electronic text book adds publication intention about the content of the electronic text book, and generates reference content related with the content on the ground of the publication intention. The apparatus for providing an electronic text book provides the content and the reference content for a user of the electronic text book in a single application by seam-less.
