The present invention relates to an emulsion copolymer, a coating composition which contains the emulsion copolymer and has improved room temperature and hot block resistance in a coating. The copolymer has a wide glass temperature range. When vinyl monomers each, for example 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, are homopolymerized, to provide a homopolymer with a Tg of 20 or lower, the copolymer is the product of a copolymerization of a vinyl monomer composition A and a ductile monomer composition B, which has a Hansch parameter of at least 3.2, containing one or more vinyl monomers M. A manufacturing method of an emulsion copolymer comprises an electricity-supplying step, supplying the vinyl monomer composition A into a reactor while or after a while the vinyl monomer composition B is supplied to the reactor, in order to polymerizing monomers in the reactor. |
