14,15-Dihydro-20,21-dinor-14-eburnameninol (I) is used to prepare a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing major depression or sleeping-waking cycle disorders. - 14,15-Dihydro-20,21-dinor-14-eburnameninol of formula (I), where the hydrogens at positions 3 and 16 are trans and the hydroxy group is in alpha or beta conformation, is used to prepare a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing major depression or sleeping-waking cycle disorders. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the use of (I) to prepare a pharmaceutical composition for treating patients with depression resistant to conventional antidepressants in order to make such patients sensitive to conventional antidepressant treatment. - ACTIVITY - Antidepressant. - MECHANISM OF ACTION - None given.
