[Class 132 (ii)] A table tennis or like racket has a striking face of continuous rubber stringing or separate rubber bands. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the racket consists of a thin board a comprising a circumferential web c and a central aperture. The web c is provided with serrations in which the strings dare positioned. A slot e and slotted extension b<1> are provided to allow of equal spacing of the up and down strings. The slotted extension b<1> has semicircular or other suitably shaped grip portions b<2> removably secured thereto by small screws or nails to cover the slot and form the handle. The stringing may be arranged diagonally or may be interlaced. The strings may be of flat rectangular section or square section and may be twisted, Fig. 6, to obtain a good grip of the ball.</p> |
