The present invention relates to a sludge dryer for drying and re-treating organic sludge being sediment in a wastewater treatment plant comprising a body part (10) for including an input hole (11) for the sludge and having a drying space (13) for the sludge; a drying part (30) contained in the body part (10) and drying the sludge in the drying space (13) by a driving part (20); a heat source injection part (40) for supplying a heat source to the sludge dried by the drying part (30); a side returning hole (54) for returning to the injection hole (11) sludge dried by the drying space (13) and not capable of passing a confining wall (52); and a control device (56) for controlling a returning quantity. The drying efficiency of the sludge is maximized and the maintenance costs for the dryer is reduced by minimizing the attachment phenomenon of the sludge in the process of returning to the sludge dryer and redrying part of sludge being dried in the drying space.
