The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for providing a ghost match in an online game. In the online game for providing the ghost match, a ghost role is punished along with match time lapse so that the ghost match is quickened, thereby improving stress and interest of the game. The method for providing the ghost match in the online game provided by one embodiment provided by the invention comprises the following steps: a step of receiving a game mode selection signal by a ghost match supplying device from a user terminal; a step of acquiring information of a plurality of roles if the game mode selection signal is a ghost match mode selection signal; a step of determining at least one ghost role and at least one common role from information of at least one role; and a step of measuring operation time of the ghost match, and performing a preset punishment on the ghost role if the operation time of the ghost match exceeds preset reference time. |
