PURPOSE: An image conversion device for converting a 2D image into a 3D image, a method thereof, and a recording medium thereof are provided to input depth information by using a first Z control point for an object selected in the 2D image and input volume information by using a second Z control point for the object, thereby recognizing the depth information and the volume information of the object and easily inputting the information. CONSTITUTION: A user input unit(120) inputs depth information of an object by setting a first Z control point in the object selected in a 2D image in a first mode. The user input unit inputs volume information of the object by setting a second Z control point in the object in a second mode. A depth map generation unit(200) generates a depth map by recognizing the depth information corresponding to movement of the first Z control point and recognizing the volume information corresponding to movement of the second Z control point.
