An image forming device is able to distinguish whether a paper material which stays at a paper carrying path is a manuscript or recording material. The image forming device comprises; an image deciphering unit which deciphers the manuscript; a photoconductive drum which forms an image on recording paper; a main motor which returns the manuscript and the recording paper; a double-sided printing driving motor. A paper sensor detects paper jam of the manuscript or the recording paper. If paper jam is detected, a CPU controls a display unit in order to display multiple papers staying on the paper carrying path with a mode which deciphers the manuscript or the recording material.
