The invention relates to a control valve device (47) for a highly available pneumatic brake system (10) for a rail vehicle, having a compressed-air inlet which is connected or can be connected to an outlet of a discharge valve device (44), via which compressed-air inlet a defined inlet pressure (Cv1max) can be fed to the control valve device (47); a compressed-air outlet which is connected or can be connected to a relay valve device (24) and via which an outlet pressure (Cv1) can be fed to the relay valve device (24); and a safety input which is connected or can be connected to a compressed-air source (44, 20); wherein the control valve device (47) fluidically connects the safety inlet to the compressed-air outlet in a first switching position and fluidically connects the compressed-air inlet to the compressed-air outlet in a second switching position; wherein the control valve device (47) is configured to modify the inlet pressure in the second switching position in accordance with a control device (52), in order to provide the outlet pressure. Moreover, the invention relates to a pneumatic brake system and to a rail vehicle.
