PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire an arbitrary focus image from a captured image.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging unit for capturing an image of subjects; an extraction unit which extracts an image area corresponding to a subject selected by a user from the captured image; a replacing unit which acquires information representing a subject distance from each subject included in the captured image to the imaging unit, and generates image data in which the subject distance from the selected subject is replaced with a subject distance designated by the user; and a smoothing unit for smoothing the captured image on the basis of the subject distance corresponding to each subject, with respect to the image data generated by the replacing unit.
