The present invention relates to compounds comprising a squaric acid or croconic acid group as anchoring group, to methods of synthesis of said compounds, to the use of said compounds, and to assemblies for use in an electronic device, said assemblies comprising a surface to which least one such compound is attached via a squaric acid or croconic acid group. The present invention also relates to an electronic device including such assembly.
