An organic EL light emitting device which comprises: a light transmitting substrate (1); a first electrode (2) that is formed on the light transmitting substrate (1); an organic functional layer (3) that is formed on the first electrode (2) and comprises at least a light emitting layer; a second electrode (4) that is formed on the organic functional layer (3); a sealing layer (5) that is formed so as to cover the first electrode (2), the second electrode (4) and the organic functional layer (3); and a protective layer (7) that is formed on the sealing layer (5). This organic EL light emitting device has a spacer resin layer (9) that is interposed between the second electrode (4) and the sealing layer (5) so as not to be adhered to the second electrode (4).
