The volume of the intake increases without changing the mole number by heating the intake. Accordingly, the mass of the heated intake sucked into a combustion chamber 19 decreases as compared with air not heated even if the volume is the same. As a result, actual equivalent ratio &phgr;r of the first fuel in the heated intake becomes larger than that of the intake not heated if the supply amount of the first feel relative to the intake is the same. As a result, the actual equivalent ratio of the first fuel in the air-fuel mixture sucked into combustion chamber 19 rises to a level sufficient for the combustion of the first fuel.
