PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus and a color measuring method capable of properly setting time from recording to color measurement while turning.SOLUTION: A recording apparatus includes: a recording unit for applying ink to a recording medium from a recording head; a drying unit for drying the recording medium; a color measuring unit for measuring color on the recording medium; a conveying unit for conveying the recording medium; and a recovering unit for performing recovering operation for normalizing the recording head. The recording apparatus sequentially performs color chart recording operation by the recording unit, conveying operation by the conveying unit, the drying operation by the drying unit, the conveying operation by the conveying unit, and the color measuring operation by the color measuring unit. When the recovering operation is performed by the recovering unit, the recovering operation is performed after the recording operation by the recording unit is performed and at the timing when at least one operation of the conveying operation by the conveying unit, the dying operation by the drying unit and the color measuring operation by the color measuring unit is at least partially overlapped with the recovering operation. a printing head-recovering operation; and a control unit for controlling the apparatus such that, the recording apparatus performs recording to form patterns, the conveying unit performs first conveying to convey the sheet from a recording region to a drying region, the drying unit performs drying, the conveying unit performs second conveying to convey the sheet from the drying region to a measuring region, and the measuring unit performs measuring, in sequence, wherein the recovering operation is performed at timing at least partially overlapping at least one of the first and second conveying operations, the drying operation, and the color measuring operation, after the recording operation. |
