PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor controller which can be driven without changing the number of phases to be driven, even when one phase of an inverter fails.SOLUTION: The motor drive includes: an inverter which includes a main drive unit 11 for exciting N phases of a motor in order and a spare drive unit 13 for exciting a spare phase replacing a failed phase of the excited N phases; a detection unit 20 which detects output signals of the N phases input from the inverter to a motor 30; a switching unit 40 which switches to connect the spare phase of the spare drive unit 13 to the failed phase of the excited N phases; and a control unit 50 which determines whether or not the phase of the main drive unit has failed from the output signals of the detected N phases by driving the inverter, and controls the switching unit so that the phase is connected to the spare phase if the phase has failed.
