PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device, a detection apparatus, and the like whereby a sufficiently large enhanced electric field can be obtained without making use of coupling between localized surface plasmons and propagating surface plasmons.SOLUTION: An optical device (10) has the following: a substrate (12); a metal layer (14) formed on the substrate; a dielectric layer (16) formed on the metal layer; and a plurality of metal nanoparticles (18) formed on the dielectric layer. The thickness (d) of the dielectric layer and the polarizability (α) of the metal nanoparticles satisfy the relations d>α/2 and d>40nm. |
